Love a good comeback story? Same.
I’m the kind of woman who eats up every behind-the-scenes biz story like popcorn. There’s something powerful about hearing how a woman picked herself up, got creative, and carved out her own path in business. So today, I’m pulling back the curtain on my story — because maybe you’ll see a little bit of yourself in it, too.
Where it all started (aka: chaos, coffee, and creativity)
Let’s rewind. I’ve always been the creative type. The kind of kid who was rearranging her bedroom like it was an HGTV set and doodling all over her math homework. So it’s no surprise that by the time I landed in college, I was jumping from major to major like a full-blown identity crisis.
Then I found graphic design — and y’all, it clicked. I wasn’t great at first (lol, not even close), but I knew I’d found my thing. While I was still figuring out my next move, I launched a little Etsy shop (an online marketplace where creators, crafters and artists alike are able to sell their craft) selling downloadable art and handmade wall prints. People actually bought them. That was my first real taste of life as a creative entrepreneur — and I was hooked.
From paycheck to pink slip
After college, I bounced through a handful of jobs — some in Alabama, some in Tennessee. I worked with boutique brands, universities, even big tech companies. I got to do everything from product photography to social media marketing and content creation.

🥗 Campus marketing for a university’s dining services
✍️ Stationery design for retail stores (yes, I made those cute notebooks!)
💻 Marketing design for a big tech brand (cue corporate chaos)
It was fun… until it wasn’t.
During a company restructure (read: messy takeover drama), I was laid off. One day I had a 9–5, the next I had zero income and a whole lotta questions.
And while being jobless isn’t exactly what I’d recommend for a good time, that layoff gave me the push I didn’t know I needed. I decided to give freelancing a go. One project led to another, and suddenly I had a real business forming in front of me. Not bad for a fresh-outta-corporate girl with a laptop and a Pinterest mood board.
Building something real — for women like me
As I worked with more clients, I realized who I loved working with the most: women starting their own businesses from scratch. The ones who were ready to ditch the 9–5 grind in exchange for freedom and flexibility — but had no idea where to start when it came to branding.
I saw myself in them. I was them.
So, I made it official. Hatched Design Co was born. And it’s been my full-time gig ever since — helping women in business look and feel like the CEOs they are.
Fast forward to now
Eight years later, here I am: a full-time brand and website designer, working with purpose-driven women entrepreneurs and small business owners who want to build a business that actually reflects who they are.
My clients? They’re the real deal. From creative entrepreneurs launching something beautiful from their kitchen tables, to mompreneurs building empires during naptime, to women juggling it all and still showing up for their dreams.
They’re ambitious, talented, and beyond ready to show up professionally — they just need someone to take the design stress off their plate. That’s where I come in.
Not ready for full-on custom branding? No shame in that game.
Let’s be real — custom branding isn’t always in the cards when you’re just starting out. I know that building a visual identity can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re also trying to be the CEO, the customer service rep, the accountant, and the intern.
Starting from scratch doesn’t mean you have to do it all alone. Inquire with me.
Thinking about starting your own thing?
If you’ve been going back and forth, wondering if you should finally launch that idea you’ve been sitting on… here’s your sign: DO IT.
It won’t be perfect. You’ll make mistakes. But you’ll grow, and you’ll find your rhythm — just like I did (and am still doing). And one day, you’ll look back and think, “Wow, I really built something from scratch.”
So tell me — what’s your story?
What moment pushed you to take the leap?
Let’s talk shop, share our stories, and keep cheering each other on. Because this entrepreneur life? It’s not always easy, but dang — it’s worth it.
